My Version of Purple
Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 7:00AM While I'm not sure of the exact name of the book and poem, I believe it is, When I am Old I Shall Wear Purple. I have been slow to post of late as my head has been filled with descions and choices on a great many fronts. Interesting that many revolve around windows since windows are showing up in every aspect of my life lately, both literally and metaphorically.
In the literal sense I have had to make choices about sizes of windows in both our Traverse City house and our small cottage. At the cottage the " master bedroom", all 9 by 11 feet of it, has a rather small window which faces the lake. I've been going back and forth about enlarging the window by a great deal, privacy verses eye popping view. We rent the house in the summer so I have had many voices in my head, keep it the same, change it, back and forth, back and forth.
When I went to bed last night I had started to second guess my choice of making it big, seemed so radical in the dark of the night. But this morning as I'm watching the dawn crawl in, awaken the lake with light, and looking out the small window, I'm realizing that I just want to see more. It doesn't matter what other voices may be in my head, this window is my version of when I am old I shall wear purple! I'm ready now to listen to my voice. Hmmm, wonder if they make purple windows?
Metaphorically I'm back engaged with my writing project, which involves all sorts of creative windows and doors. I love the cross over and connections. The tangible areas in my life intersecting with the conceptual. As I am about to begin teaching a class on color theory, it's obvious that the color for today is purple!
Life Lesson,
Windows
