Susan's birds nest find
Finding these nests were like finding treasures hidden until all the leaves fell off their trees. I feel like building a nest for myself - a place to spend the winter nice and cozy and play with my paints and pencils.

Susan's surprise rose
What a surprise to see this beautiful rose blooming by our deck! A late bloomer just like me.

Susan's November 2
I told one of my sons a few days ago that November was my least favorite month. The more I get out walking with my dog and my camera, the more I am changing my mind on that. There is an incredible beauty about November as the season shifts. Drama in the sky and on the ground. Enjoy these photos.
November 1 and 2 are a few more stunning images from my morning dog walks.

Last Apple on the tree (Susan)
I am discovering how ordinary things seem extraordinary in November, like this apple. It is not unusual at some times of the year to see apples hanging on trees, but in mid November with snowflakes flying, this apple seemed an amazing sight. It was the last apple. All the others had been picked, eaten by deer, or fallen to the ground. Sometimes I feel like I am just meant to see certain things for the lessons they have for me. This apple was one of those. Is it tenacious or just afraid to let go? There is something in my life that I have been tenaciously hanging onto. I think the time for harvesting that part of my life is over. It is OK. I need to let it go.

Validating Color Theory by Susan
I have been testing out the concepts from color theory class. When a scene "takes my breath away" does it really have all the colors of the spectrum? Actually I think every scene from nature has them all if I stop to look deeply. This photo is from my hike Nov 23. An amazing oasis of color on a very gray day! I only saw it because I was looking. Amazing to see all the colors of the spectrum on such a gray drizzly November day!
Enjoy! Susan

Susan's Negative Space
What a wonder! The sun was visible this morning. I love the rhythm, variety, and pattern of the negative spaces in this scene!
